The City of Streator currently has several light and heavy manufacturing buildings available for purchase or lease, as well as several undeveloped sites on the south side of the city ideally located adjacent to water and natural gas feeder lines, and industrial sewer and electric lines. Most of these undeveloped sites can also be served by Class One railroad lines.

Streator has two industrial parks, a small business incubator, three tax increment financing districts, a large Enterprise Zone, a fast-track permitting and plan review process, and access to extremely high speed internet via the Illinois Fiber Resources Group.

Streator knows that economic development is a community effort, and not the responsibility of any single office or entity. Streator has a diverse team of economic development partners who come together to meet the needs of new and existing business. These include:

a. Streator Industrial Development, Inc. is a subsidiary of the Chamber and owns the remaining lots in a large full-service industrial park on the city's south side. It also developed the north side industrial park at Benchmark Dr.

Development Incentives
For New Construction, Expansion, Renovations, and Remodeling
Property Tax Abatements available for commercial or industrial real property located within the zone for projects which have a building permit and constitute new construction, renovation, or remodeling. Within Livingston and LaSalle Counties, certified projects shall be eligible for a four-year abatement of approximately 50% of the real property taxes attributed to the improvements.
Investment Tax Credit. Equal to 1/2 of 1% (.5) against state income tax for investment in "qualified" property (machinery, equipment, real property) placed in service within the zone.
Jobs Tax Credit. A $500 per employee tax credit on Illinois Income Tax for hiring employees who are certified as a dislocated worker or economically disadvantaged.
Sales Tax Exemption. Exemption of the 7.5% sales tax on building materials used for new construction.

The Chamber partners with the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity to obtain and maximize incentives available through this and other state agencies.
